My name is Holly, I am a 21-year-old York St John University graduate and blogger based in the UK, I also happen to be blind.
I started blogging at the beginning of 2015 to educate, inspire, motivate, and support blind and visually impaired or disabled people. I often get asked how I complete simple daily tasks activities, how I coped in education and university despite being blind and often receive comments such as “you don’t look blind” or “it must be so hard for you” so I started blogging in order to address such perceptions through writing. The main aim of my blog is to bring both disabled and non-disabled people together by tackling some of the stigmas and misconceptions on sight loss and disability.
My blog is my little corner of the internet where I like to spread positivity, share my own personal experiences and offer advice on topics relating to visual impairment and disability to those who may need a bit of support.
I have been involved with various local and national charities and organisations for many years. Some of these include RNIB, LOOK-UK, York Personal Support, York Blind and Partially Sighted Society and The Wilberforce trust.
My skills include:
- Blogging
- Teaching specialist skills such as braille and assistive technology
- Managing social media
- Mentoring
- Public speaking
- Visual impairment awareness training
I am listed in the top 100 disabled bloggers by Stairlifts Reviews and also listed as one of Ability Superstore’s top 10 disabled bloggers. I am very happy to collaborate or work with any person, brand or organisation that supports my message and the aims of my blog.
